That was what my old history teacher, Coach Thornburgh, used to say on parent-teacher night. I now think that every time I look at MySpace.
So, George W. Bush’s term is up at noon on January 20, 2008. We all know that it’s going to be a flurry of pardons, what with all of the criminal misconduct and all. When do you think Ken Lay’s pardon will be signed and announced? Leave your dates and times of the announcement in the comments. Me, I’m going with January 20, 2008 at 11.45 am.
We just came back from seeing An Inconvenient Truth.
Never in my life have I wanted to a) give a wedgie to an executive from GM and b) get someone elected to the Presidency.
Just run, Al. For the love of God, run.
…but when that glorious day comes, Barbara Bauer is off the list.
Two geese (an adult and an adolescent, I think; it certainly looked as disheveled and gawky as I did when I was twelve) waddled out into traffic at Valencia and Magic Mountain this morning. Screwed things up for a bit.
How did nature know I was looking for an excuse to use the phrase “goose jam” in public?
On the one hand, I don’t want to see The Da Vinci Code because I think it’s going to suck; it’s a SciFi Network B-movie with a gravitas-lift (Tom Hanks instead of, say, Lance Henriksen) and a baddie transplant (Opus Dei instead of…Mansquito!). Dan Brown has made enough money, and I don’t want Sony rewarding him by commissioning Da Vinci Code 2: Opus Dei Can You See?.
On the other hand, anything that pisses off Bill Donohue can’t be all that bad.
So, what to do? Simple. Pirate the movie, slap a couple of flatscreens on a truck, then park that sucker across the street from a Catholic League protest. That way, everyone wins.
We Fictionados have homework for the first time: list your favorite stories, genre and not. In compiling this list, I’ve realized how poorly read I am. So:

“The Stars My Destination” by Alfred Bester
“Magic for Beginners” by Kelly Link

Love and Garbage by Ivan Klima

Nonfiction
i: six nonlectures by ee cummings
On Writing by Stephen King
