…that while I never met Kurt Vonnegut, I did get to see him lecture once, back when I was a senior in high school and just waiting for some way to figure out What I Wanted To Do With My Life.
His lecture was called “How to Get a Job Like Mine,” though he never talked about it exactly. But he was funny as hell, and I think that was when I started to think about writing not just as this thing I did to amuse myself, but as something I could Do. So that’s one more thing I owe him for.
